What a wonderful sushi experience! Every piece was so delightful that I couldn’t wait to try the next piece. The ambiance and food preparation was one of the best sushi experiences I have ever had in the city. I highly recommend!

This tiny restaurant is a hidden gem in NY. Kura was the best sushi I have ever had hands down. It's omakase, yet you can still say that you don't want to eat a certain fish and the chef will happily replace it with something you like. The dining experience at Kura was absolutely fantastic. The sushi was simple yet so flavorful and fresh. My personal favorite was the seared Toro, which I highly recommend. I cannot wait to go back to Kura, I felt like I was in Japan!

My second visit was not as good as the first. For one, sushi chefs were talking amongst themselves and laughing loudly throughout the dinner which made it hard to relax in a small intimate setting, as well as hear my husband. Second, we were served several pieces twice, not sure sure why... for the price I’d go elsewhere for more interesting, rare fish and importantly, a more fluid atmosphere. This last visit left me feeling as though we had a sushi lunch special for $24.99 at some hole in the wall midtown location. Hopefully, this was a one off for them, but in any case, I’ll go spend $400 on a dinner elsewhere next time. Somewhere that actually warrants the price tag.
